Meet The Team – An Interview with Tiva Pishgar – Event Coordinator

Church House is an award-winning venue, with a variety of flexible spaces for hosting an array of events; however, these events could not come to life without our wonderful team! Our #MeetTheTeam series gives readers a chance to delve into the people behind the scenes!

Tiva has worked with us over the last two years, being an integral part of the events team, without which we would not be able to create awe-inspiring events for our clients and visitors.

We interviewed Tiva about her time with us so far, and what she enjoys most about working at Church House.

Tell me about yourself and how your journey with Church House began.

I got my master’s degree in Tourism Management from UITM Malaysia in 2010 and have been working in the events industry pretty much ever since!

2 years ago I moved to the UK from Iran and immediately began my job search – it was like the advertisement for the role at Church House was waiting just for me – so I applied without delay! I was invited to an interview with my now manager Vedrana – Head of Operations, and Church House CEO – Stephanie Maurel; they were so friendly and knowledgeable, they showed me the different spaces in the venue, including the amazing Assembly Hall, where they told me more about the history of the building.

I was so delighted to be offered the role; and I haven’t looked back since!

What do you enjoy most about your work at Church House?

I love working in such a beautiful venue, Church House shines brightly among the architecturally rich landscape of Westminster – clients are always blown away by the sheer variety of spaces we have, along with the latest technology available for use. The team at Church House are also wonderful; working with them is a real pleasure.

Are there any events you have worked on that were outstandingly memorable?

I worked on a large fundraising dinner for a well-known charity last year. There were many components to the event, and a large number of guests to coordinate. It was my first time handling an event on this scale, so naturally there were some nerves; however, being supported by my experienced colleagues was a big help. I felt so proud that I had managed to run such a prestigious event successfully & I felt a real sense of professional and personal achievement afterwards!

What advice do you have for anyone who would like to forge a career in the events industry?

Working in the events industry is a very unique experience, no two days are the same & you are constantly meeting new people – so brush up on your social skills and current events – that way you will always feel confident in conversing with a variety of people.
