Our Top 8 Restaurants in Victoria, London

A few years back, suggesting restaurants in Victoria, London would have conjured up puzzling facial expressions from your circle of friends and almost immediate suggestions of alternative locations: be it North, East, West, but definitely always avoiding South.

Fortunately so much has changed and the area of Victoria in London, a short five-minute walking distance from Church House Westminster, has developed into a jolly and bustling area for all-day classy food and drinks.

Who will you find there? Theatre-goers, enjoying a spot of pre-theatre sharing plates or post-theatre drinks. Tourists, returning from an exhibition at Tate Britain or on the weekend, concert attendees from the Royal Albert Hall. There is, of course, the locals, and during the week the commuters who work in the newly developed office blocks (although at the moment less so with WFH, more for us we say!).

8 Restaurants in Victoria, London to try* next time you are in town

1. A Wong

One Michelin star restaurant by Andrew Wong featuring his own modern interpretations of the regional cuisine of China inspired by his travels. The dumplings are divine.

2. Lorne Restaurant

Modern seasonal British menu with noteworthy wines to match served in relaxed surroundings. We love the service which is very friendly and unpretentious.

3. The Cinnamon Club

Modern Indian fine dining set in the former Westminster Library. The location is a major plus for us, as it’s literally across the road from where we are.

4. Rail House Cafe

Modern brasserie ideal for all-day dining, much like its older sibling, Riding House Cafe. Weekend brunches here are legendary.

5. The Other Naughty Piglet

Currently closed due to the pandemic (sad face). This seasonal restaurant was a firm favourite for us pre- and post-theatre because of its handy location in The Other Palace (Hamilton, anyone?). A brilliant creation from the team behind Naughty Piglets in Brixton. Here’s hoping they will be able to open soon again.

6. About Thyme

European bistro with an impressive international cellar. When dining here in Summer, you almost feel transported to the Mediterranean!

7. The Ivy Victoria

Bringing a touch of the Ivy to Victoria. Beautiful interiors – we love the powder room! Not forgetting the pink bar and the heated terrace (just what we need this Winter).

8. M Victoria Street

V E R Y spacious dining emporium incorporating a wine bar and tasting room, cocktail bar, private dining, and two restaurants: M RAW and M GRILL. Physical distancing should be easy to accomplish over the two large floors, but it is the Blackmore Wagyu that has us coming back again and again.

*current Government guidelines limit restaurant bookings to a maximum of 6 with a requirement for the group to all be in the same household.
