Things to do in London this Christmas

It’s beginning to look (and feel) a lot like Christmas with news of London moving to Tier 2 from 2 December. If you are like us, and planning activities with members of your household or your social bubble, our team has compiled a festive list of things to do this Christmas in London. The season is all about fun, food and experiences and these ideas tick all the boxes, and more!

  • Miracle on Kingdom Street – Pergola Paddington hosts fun wintertime get-togethers with friends and family. Choose from Champagne chalets or opt for the heated Bavarian-style hall – featuring live DJs. Festive drinks and food served up by five restaurants. Think gorgeous cheese fondues, bratwurst and candy cane smores. We’ll need a stack of plates, thanks! Tube: Paddington

  • Skylight Christmas at Tobacco DockPlenty of outdoor tables for mixed households and indoor areas and igloos for social bubbles. Skylight extends beyond the rooftop this year and the twinkly world of wintery festive fun includes igloos, an off-piste speakeasy cocktail bar, an apres-ski lodge and a Christmas cocktail cinema. All with full Covid-secure protocols in place. That’s us walking in a Winter Wonderland! Tube: Shadwell, Wapping

  • The Queen’s House Ice Rink – What could be more magical than skating in the shadow of a UNESCO World Heritage Site whilst enjoying stunning views of the River Thames and Greenwich Royal Park? This year’s rink is larger than before, offering lots more space for safe skating. Whilst you are there, make sure to also visit the Old Royal Naval College for their Craft Market, Winter Dining and a brand-new festive musical. Tube: Greenwich

  • Canary Wharf presents Connected by LightA specially curated collection of light artworks, bringing nine new stunning illuminated installations to the Canary Wharf estate. These new works aim to bring a sense of calm and reflection in these difficult times as well as a much-needed splash of colour as the winter nights draw in. Our team recommends popping by Giant Robot, Wharf Kitchen or Kerb West India Quay for street food and drinks. Tube: Canary Wharf

  • Winter Heights at London Bridge RooftopStunning panoramic 360° views of the London skyline. This brand new alfresco rooftop bar offers magical views of London both day and night plus hot cocktails, live DJs, Ginger Pig hot dogs and cheese fondues! Tube: London Bridge

  • Igloos at Somerset HouseIn a new take on celebrating the festive season with loved ones, this private dining experience is set within your very own igloo, in one of London’s best-loved and most iconic open spaces. Tube: Embankment, Temple

  • Christmas at Kew The much-loved after-dark light trial lights up for its eighth year, with a twist. This year it follows a new route which for the first time includes the beautifully illuminated Rose Garden. You’ll find us at the Palm House Pond finale enjoying the soundtrack of festive classics. Tube: Kew

  • Have yourself an Ally Pally Christmas – Christmas is definitely not cancelled at Alexandra Palace. Theatre company, Tall Stories, stage The Gruffalo’s Child in the Victorian theatre. Festive lights transform the East Court where you will find Santa’s Grotto. Enjoy hour-long skate sessions or join the Ally Pally Christmas Film Season.  Tube: Wood Green
