Church House has adopted the Westminster Food Bank as their chosen charity. This organisation provides food to residents in the Borough of Westminster that are experiencing financial crisis.
Supported by the Trussell Trust, the foodbank is operated through a voucher scheme, whereby residents identified as being in crisis by front-line care professionals can receive three days’ worth of nutritionally balanced (non-perishable) food that has been donated by church members and local people including schools, businesses and charities.
Church House conference centre began their support for the Westminster Food Bank with the first official fundraiser taking place at their annual Afternoon Tea Party earlier this year. The event helped to raise 55.8kg of food and toiletries, in addition to a financial donation which was used to buy additional stock.
The team continue to support the charity throughout the year by offering their voluntary services at the Foodbank centre, involving sorting and packing the food into food bags and welcoming visitors into the centre.
Heather, fundraiser at the Westminster Food Bank comments “Our Foodbank has been operating since 2011 and would not be able to continue without the help and support of volunteers. We appreciate and value the time and commitment from the Church House Team.”
From running the Cancer Research Race for Life to fundraising walks for The British Heart Foundation, the Church House team are always keen to get involved with charity work with the next planned fundraiser involving an office bake off for Breast Cancer Now ‘Wear It Pink’ day.
Robin Parker, General Manager at Church House, comments: “Since I have been at Church House it has never ceased to amaze me some of the things the team has done to raise money for charity. From running around Battersea Park in their pants to marathons and triathlons, their energy is limitless. So, it is great to have a Bake Off, as that is much more my pace!”
