    History of the Space

The hall’s namesake, Henry Hoare, was an English banker and chair of The Society for the Revival of Convocation which formed in 1850. During the Second World War, while two Houses of Parliament occupied Church House, the hall played a vital role during significant historical moments. In 1941, Prime Minister Winston Churchill took to the stage of the Hoare Memorial Hall, announcing the sinking of the battleship Bismarck. Then in 1945, the first meetings of the United Nations Preparatory Commission and Security Council took place inside these walls.

When choosing the Hoare Memorial Hall for your corporate events, you’re inviting your guests on a journey of discovery. I wanted to thank the entire events team at Church House for making Localis’s 20th anniversary celebration such a resoundingly joyful occasion – from the planning through to the event itself. We particularly enjoyed the atmospheric and historical setting of the Hoare Memorial Hall, the attentiveness of the staff as well as the fine quality of the food and drink on offer.
