The United Nations climate change conference (COP26) set to take place in November 2021 in Glasgow presents an opportunity for us to show our commitment to a sustainable event industry and to act swiftly to achieve climate targets.
In the lead-up to the event, the support for change has been building amongst various stakeholder groups including consumers and entrepreneurs and at the same time, the drive for innovative solutions is growing.
We believe that sustainability should be intrinsic to business. More importantly, the event industry can make an important positive contribution by supporting the Sustainable Development Goals. As an industry, we can work collaboratively with our suppliers, clients, and peers to make events sustainable.
Church House Westminster has committed to hosting events in a carbon-neutral manner by 2030.
We have shared this target with Positive Impact and support their initiative, ‘The Road to COP26 Event Sector Transformation’ which will provide support to at least 1,000 small to medium enterprises within the event sector to make a net-zero commitment and take action before COP 26. The initiative is supported by SME Climate Hub (a member of the UN Race to Zero Campaign).
