On Saturday 31 October, our Marketing Manager, Elana Kruger, completed a 10-kilometre #Walkfor Calm charity walk in central London to raise money for Hospitality Action. All funds raised will go towards supporting the well-being and mental health of people in the events industry, and across the UK.
Elana started her #WalkforCalm 10k route near Waterloo Station at Leake Street Arches, before crossing Westminster Bridge, and making her way to Trafalgar Square, then westwards towards the City, passing St. Paul’s Cathedral (where it started raining!) and the Tower of London, after which time she crossed Tower Bridge, and walked along with the South Bank, arriving at her final destination at Jubilee Gardens and the London Eye.
The month of October saw a number of people of hospitality taking part in #WalkforCalm, to support and raise funds for Hospitality Action and CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably). The event is powered by mum, in partnership with Caterer.com, UKHospitality, The Caterer, Umbrella Training, Healthy Hospo, Tonic Talent and Sixty Eight People.
Elana commented: “In many ways, 2020 continues to be a challenging year for so many of us in the hospitality industry due to the impact of Covid, especially on the mental health front. We have been inspired to look out for each other during the pandemic. I thoroughly enjoyed the physical activity, which did wonders for my well-being by being active and knowing that I am at the same time fundraising for hospitality workers in crisis to access support during these very trying times”.
Please get involved, support or donate if you can. Elana’s #WalkForCalm fundraising page on JustGiving is still accepting donations for Hospitality Action.
