On Wednesday 8 September 2021 iESE hosted two annual events at Church House Westminster
The iESE 2021 Conference which took place during the day in the Assembly Hall, took on a hybrid event format. The health and safety of those attending in-person were assured by the Westminster venue’s Covid-secure protocols. Masks and sanitising stations were provided on-site, whilst physical distancing was adhered to by means of a safe seating capacity that capped in-person attendance. Pre-home testing was encouraged as well as on-site asymptomatic testing on the day.
Online attendance was free and included an online portal for virtual delegates with access granted from Monday 23rd August to Thursday 30th September.
Online delegates were able to:
- join the conference in real-time,
- register for breakout presentations
- join virtually via MS Teams to interact with solution experts and connect with other conference delegates
- download resources
- watch on-demand recordings of anything they’ve missed
- carry on the conversations by joining follow-on events
Key conference speakers included:
- Fiona Lees, interim Chief Exec of Dumfries and Galloway Council
- Chris Naylor, Chief Executive of London Borough of Barking and Dagenham
- John Comber, former Chief Executive of London Borough of Greenwich

The Public Sector Transformation Awards Ceremony took place in the evening. To ensure a safe event for all guests, in-person attendance was limited to two representatives for every finalist, whilst the awards ceremony was live-streamed onto iESE’s website and social media accounts.
The awards ceremony celebrates the most innovative practice in transforming local public services. This year over 200 nominations were received from over 113 public sector organisations.
No public money is spent on the event because the IESE Public Sector Transformation Awards ceremony is sponsored by individual businesses. Therefore, each winner is provided with free places in recognition of their efforts in improving their local areas.
We’re kicking off the public sector transformation awards. So glad to be able to bring everyone together to celebrate! #iESEAwards2021 pic.twitter.com/SAbloXhJ3q
